Ques. Quelle est la différence entre un investisseur providentiel et une société de capital-risque?
Rép.: En général, les investisseurs providentiels n'investissent pas dans les occasions d'affaires dont le montant est supérieur à 1 million de dollars, tandis que les sociétés de capital-risque ne prennent généralement pas en considération les occasions d'un montant inférieur. Les tendances récentes affichent certains changements dans l'environnement d'investissement. Les sociétés de capital-risque s'intéressent davantage aux entreprises au développement plus avancé et aux occasions plus importantes, ce qui pousse les groupes d'investisseurs providentiels à se regrouper afin de pouvoir investir de plus grandes sommes d'argent. Les investisseurs providentiels prennent leurs propres décisions, contrairement aux comités ou aux groupes de personnes qui prennent des décisions pour les investisseurs qui ont mis en commun leur argent. Les investisseurs providentiels ont tendance à plus s'impliquer dans les entreprises dans lesquelles ils investissent et ils apportent leur aide, chose que les sociétés de capital-risque ne font pas. Les investisseurs providentiels possèdent en général un intérêt moins important dans l'entreprise qu'une société de capital-risque.
