            • Bay window/Oriel window In architecture, an oriel window is a window projecting from the outer face of a wall, in plan semi- hexagonal, semi-octagonal, or rectangular, thus having three or more sides, divided by mullions and transoms into different bays and other projections, and supported by brackets or corbels. A projecting window rising from the ground is sometimes called an oriel window, but is more properly a bay window ベイウインドウ ベイウインドウとは、台形に張り出した出窓のこと 出窓は、引き違い窓などに比べると高価であるが、外観のアクセントなり、外に突き出した分だけ空間に広がりが生まれたり、出窓のテーブル板と呼ばれる台の部分にものを飾れるなどのメリットがある。前面を引き違いにして両サイドをはめ殺し（FIX）窓にする組み合わせのほか、前面をはめ殺し（FIX）窓にして両サイドをたてすべり出し窓にするなど、いろいろな組み合わせがある。台形に張り出した部分は、下部を収納などとして使用しない限り、建築基準法によって容積率や建ぺい率の基準となる建築面積には含まれない。弓形に張り出した出窓は、ベイウインドウと区別して、ボウウインドウと呼ぶ。 Own research - by sumire (X)
