ProZ.com Releases Connect!
Industry-first sourcing and management platform delivers the right linguists with speed, ease-of-use and reduced cost
SYRACUSE, NY, March 7, 2007 — ProZ.com, the leading enabling and sourcing portal for language professionals, today announced the public release of ProZ.com Connect!, the first sourcing platform built specifically for finding translators and interpreters. The new web-based service enables companies to rapidly and efficiently find, select and manage the language professionals they need from among ProZ.com’s network—the world's largest—of over 170,000 translators and interpreters working in more than 100 languages.
ProZ.com Connect! was developed, beta tested and piloted over the past 10 months with the cooperation of 25 charter customers. Among them were six of the world’s twenty largest language companies and a number of global firms that purchase translation services, including a global 100 enterprise. Many mid-sized language companies also took part in the charter program, one with as few as two employees.ProZ.com Connect! features a patent-pending, “need-based” approach to sourcing. The platform allows multiple people within the same company to collaborate online, viewing, saving and managing the best translators for given projects. Charter users reported efficiency gains of up to 50% in finding required linguists. For larger companies this time savings can equate to an estimated $20,000 USD cost savings per project or vendor manager per year.
The effectiveness of ProZ.com Connect! is attributable to three factors: 1) state-of-the-art web technologies ("web 2.0"), 2) the ability to distinguish “premium” job opportunities (ie. those paying market rates or better) and thereby command greater attention from service providers, and 3) the depth of ProZ.com's network of service providers, and the freshness of data in the profiles (even current availability is shown in many cases).
