I have been asked to give a quote for an institution in the Czech Republic to translate a document from English into Spanish. I would like to know which are the average rates per original word for that pair, that is, I need to know that they range from x to x, so I can offer a more or less fair quote. I am also interested in proofreading quotes.
Thanks in advance for your help

My rates can change depending on the subject matter or the language combination but not on the country my client is in, it’s me who provides the services and I take into account the cost of living in my country. Personally I don’t raise or lower my rates because I think a client in a particular market will pay more or less. But we are in a global economy and each of us is free to go our own way…

I would advise everyone to ignore such differences whenever possible, unless they are in your favor.
Besides, there is no substantial Czech-specific market for non-Czech-into-non-Czech translations in this day and age. There might be some low budget offers from students that aren't native speakers of either language and a few random local expats, but most such things get outsourced to global markets these days.

It's not that poor of a country.
Hi Adieu
Where have I said that? I haven't said it is poor country. Nonetheless, rates are not the same, in Italy, Spain, Germany or Poland.
