Not only in my source languages, but also in other foreign languages, and when I have some time free.

Definitely not regularly. I prefer to take some time off screen when not working.

It's pretty easy for me, since my source language is English and my native language is German, so whenever dialogues are of any relevance and the original is English, I will watch it in English.
Also, I am frequently appalled by German dubs, which not only sound extremely lackluster but are also blatantly mistranslated more often than not. And yet, German dubs still count as some of the best in the world, so I am kind of worried about the quality of dubs in other countries...

I don't watch TV in any language. Haven't had one in 30 years or so.

In Portugal, movies are subtitled, so if they happen to be in my source languages, I don’t look at the subtitles, but if they are in any other foreigner language I’ll have to. I lived in Belgium for 30 years so I like knowing what’s going on there and I watch the News on TV5Monde at 12:30. I also watch some programs on BBC.

I always watch films and TV in the original language, whether or not I understand it. I live in my source language country so I often watch things in French.
Unlike Teresa, I cannot ignore sub-titles. If I watch something with the dialogue in English, we keep the sub-titles on for my partner, and the sub-titles drive me mad. We often pause just to clarify discrepancies between the dialogue and the sub-titles. Then we watch a French film and suddenly there are no sub-titles and I actually

In addition to watching German-language films on Netflix, I use a VPN to access German/Austrian television programming from the United States. Mirroring from an iPad allows me to watch the programs on a full-screen television rather than on a computer screen.

I watch quite a few Italian political discussion programmes on La7. Using my VPN I also have access to all the RAI channels, where I can watch Italian films. I don't do this all the time but quite frequently.

I have a very hard time with dubbing, so if I understand the original language, I'll watch without subtitles, if it's a language I don't know, then with subs. I rarely watch TV (I'm in Germany where everything is dubbed and my set up doesn't allow me to change to OV), I mainly use Blu-Rays/DVDs and streaming services.

Not regularly, no, but I do occasionally watch Japanese TV programming when I can find it.
I've been binge-watching a home renovation show lately.

I don’t watch much telly at all but if I wanted it to help my work I’d be watching it in my target language…

No, like Anton I don't watch TV at all. I haven't had one for years. I prefer to spend my spare time reading in my source languages instead.

Sometimes Jun 29, 2023

Yes, sometimes I watch Netflix movies and series.

My only condition is never watch them in a single language:
- my brain works in Spanish
- the audio must not be in Spanish, so I select between English/Italian/French/German
- the subtitles must also be different from Spanish and the audio language, I choose mainly out of Italian/French/German
