English term

data closet

English to French Tech/Engineering IT (Information Technology)
Data closets must be kept locked even when not attended.

S'agit-il d'un bureau ou d'un placard? Si c'est un placard, c'est bizarre avec "attended".

agree Robert Morin : «armoires de matériel» => autre contexte «Server Outage on Monday, Feb 5: Starting at 10:00 PST(...), our server will be down for two hours in order to (...) move a new system into the data closet» http://seti.hfr.free.fr/affichenews.php?date=2/2001

English only (central wiring point)

data closet or telecommunications closet: A closet that houses a patch panel and possibly other equipment. The central point at your school may not necessarily be inside a closet.

patch panel: An assembly of pin locations and ports, mounted on a rack or wall bracket. A patch panel acts like a switchboard where cable from schoolrooms can be connected to each other (forming a local network) and to the outside (linking to the Internet or other wide area network).

must provide an individual connection to each computer workstation from a central wiring point, such as a machine room or networking data closet. ...

attended makes sense - area must always be locked even when the technician (ou responsable) is not in the room - high security
