Elysia timida es un sacogloso endémico del Mediterráneo que se alimenta de una gran alga verde unicelular, Acetabularia acetabulum. Esta planta forma céspedes densos en fondos litorales someros y bien iluminados, en los que E. timida alcanza abundancias a veces notables. en la costa alicantina y murciana el alga empieza su ciclo biológico en octubre, a partir de enero el talo de la planta se va calcificando y en junio ya casi no quedan algas blandas que los sacoglosos puedan perforar con la **rádula** y comer. La población del molusco aparece en forma de juveniles en octubre, tiene un máximo en diciembre y los animales perduran hasta julio, pero en número más reducido al poder utilizar sólo como alimento los cloroplastos retenidos .

Radula is the scientific name for the toothed chitinous ribbon in the mouth of gastropods. They use it to graze and scrape diatoms and other microscopic algae off rock surfaces and other substrata.
The radula is common to all mollusks, except the bivalves, which feed by siphoning and filtering small particles from water.
The mouth of the gastropods is located below the anterior part of the mollusk. It opens into a pocket-like buccal cavity, containing the radula sac.
The radula apparatus consists of two parts :
- the cartilaginous base (the odontophore), with the odontophore protractor muscle, the radula protractor muscle and the radula retractor muscle.
- the radula itself, with its longitudinal rows of chitinous and recurved teeth, the cuticula.
