reindeer games

English Art/Literary Cinema, Film, TV, Drama
This if from a TV SHOW (Married...With Children).

A shoe store salesman loses his job right before Christmas. In desperation, he finds a temporary job as a reindeer. His buddy (Al Bundy in fact) is watching him get into his routine.

AL BUNDY
What kind of reindeer games you playing there, Griff?

What does "reindeer games" mean? Obviously he's hinting at something. Is this a double entendre, a pun or what?

Thank you!

...context. If there is a hint of sarcasm, the whole sentence will probably mean something like "you look ridiculous." It could also mean something like: "What are you doing? I want to do the same thing so that I will fit in."
Expialidocio (X) Dec 20, 2007:
I don't think it matters which reindeer the man is dressing up as. "Reindeer games" is a reference to the song (in which Blitzen also plays a part), that's all. After that, what exactly is meant will be revealed by the rest of the visual/linguistic...

This guy's reindeer name is Blitzen, so he's not Rudolph. Does that help any?
Nesrin Dec 20, 2007:
All I know is that it comes from the song "Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer": All of the other reindeer used to laugh and call him names, they never let poor Rudolph join in any reindeer games"

reference to song lyrics

Probably just a joke about how reindeer-like Al's buddy is, or how seriously he's taking his job as a reindeer.

Lyrics of the song this refers to:

Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer

You know Dasher and Dancer
And Prancer and Vixen,
Comet and Cupid
And Donner and Blitzen.
But do you recall
The most famous reindeer of all?

Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer
Had a very shiny nose.
And if you ever saw it
You would even say it glows.

All of the other reindeer
Used to laugh and call him names.
They never let poor Rudolph
Join in any reindeer games.

Then one foggy Christmas Eve
Santa came to say,
Rudolph with your nose so bright
Won't you guide my sleigh tonight?

Then all the reindeer loved him
And they shouted out with glee,
Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer
You'll go down in history!

childish acting

What kind of childish behavior are you doing, Griff?

It is a reference to a song by Gene Autry "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" where the reindeers are playing and Rudolph was discriminated against.

In the context you provided it refers to it may mean that what Griff is doing is childish and makes him look stupid.
