Vidanges is a euphemism, just like night soil. Everyone knows what it means, but by saying vidanges you're not going into the detail.....

Suggestion qui irait bien pour votre premier exemple (elles vident leur seau...). Je mettrais "déjections humaines" pour le deuxième (comme proposé par drcal).
