English term

Jagged lettering

English Marketing Marketing marketing survey
This is a question from a marketing survey. The respondents are being asked about the look and feel of the packaging for their 'ideal' brand of a product (it doesn't really matter what the product is).

The list of responses includes the following attributes:

Funky lettering
Plain block lettering
Curvy/wavy lettering
Futuristic lettering
Jagged lettering

Could you please describe what 'jagged lettering' looks like? TIA

Discussion

SirReaL (asker) Aug 17, 2008:
Typo - should read "google image search"
SirReaL (asker) Aug 17, 2008:
Google image searched was inconclusive.
What is jagged - the overall curve of an inscription or the edges of its letters?

uneven and angular

Somewhat subjective, but take a look at Google images for "jagged lettering". It should give you an idea.

not the inclination of the character, but the overall shape is irregular and angular.

Debrite's information is very helpful

In my Word fonts on this computer I'd say that "Viner Hand ITC" and "Matisse ITC" fonts are jagged - jagged means with sharp pointy bits on the letters.

definitely not the curve of the letters - it refers to the edges, like broken glass can have a jagged edge
