Προοδευτικός είναι ο φόρος του οποίου ο φορολογικός συντελεστής αυξάνεται όταν αυξάνεται η φορολογική βάση. Για παράδειγμα, αν για εισόδημα €100 ο φορολογιός συντελεστής είναι 10%, για εισόδημα €200 θα είναι 15%.
