It is a renovation. My apartment had such a wall put on it when I was in Denmark, but they don't do that to houses around here. So far I have used "Internal wall" in the translation. It is a continuation of a wall, but continuous wall implies a long side continuation rather than an extra wall on the inside of the existing wall.

Is it an old building being renovated or a new one?

A 'forsatsrude' or forsatsvindue' is a window or pane placed inside an existing one to improve heat isolation. This is often seen on older buildings where the aim is to preserve the appearance, but add modern comfort, reduce draughts and save heating costs etc. They can be enormously effective while appearing unobtrusive.

Similarly, an old house can be insulated by adding a layer of insulation inside the original wall and an extra internal wall.

But I am not sure what this is called.
