Spanish term

conviniéndose que con la retribución asignada .....

Spanish to English Law/Patents Human Resources Spanish work contract
The full sentence is:

La jornada efectiva de trabajo será de CUARENTA horas semanales, prestadas de lunes a viernes no festivos, no obstante lo anterior, puntualmente se pueden producir prolongaciones de su jornada habitual, conviniéndose que con la retribución quedan compensados a tanto alzado, los posibles excesos de jornada.

I understand this to mean "you're not getting any overtime", although I am going to phrase it more elegantly (I hope): "However, the working day may occasionally be extended, in which case it is understood that the agreed salary covers any extra hours".

I just want to make sure I have got it right - because if not, it could be serious (I mean, doesn't that convene any number of labour regulations? - not an expert on labour law though, so just making sure).

Spanish from Spain, the employee is a project manager in the communications dept of a pharmaceutical.

TIA, MJ

A less formal version might go something like:

If we tell you to, you will work like a dog, but you will have no right to expect us to even throw you a bone for your extra pains....

:)

If he's doing that well, then I also feel no sympathy for him! :)
Note from asker:
Thanks, Robert. At the moment he makes twice what I do and he is guaranteed Sundays and holidays off, so I won't be crying too hard for him. (Seriously though, he's welcome to it. Wage slave - buah! hahaha!)

Gracias, Rosa.
agree Clare Hogg : agree. "the agreed salary SHALL cover any extra hours/overtime worked". From my experience, not an uncommon clause to have in an employment contract in certain industries such as publishing

Robert is right. Just in case you need a more "formal" version, this is my suggestion:

"the parties hereby expressly agree that the compensation ... "

Good luck
