De profielartsen zullen in BIG geregistreerd zijn als basisarts (wet BIG artikel 3). Daarnaast zullen de profielartsen een aantekening krijgen in een speciaal register dat zal worden bijgehouden door de Sociaal Geneeskundige Registratie Commissie (SGRC). De profielen zijn: jeugdarts; arts infectieziektenbestrijding; arts tuberculosebestrijding; arts medisch milieukundige, etc.
