Dear all,
Does "puncture" in the following context has a negative connotation?
"He inserts the line, punctures it all the way through the vein. The patient got infected and died after a few days."
Why she died? I mean I thought that "punctures" is like "inserts"!

no it doesn't have a negative connotation i guess, coz he has to puncture to insert the line anyway! The infection might happened for some other reason

The context supports يخترق, not يثقب or يخز. And I don't see that it does necessarily have a negative connotation. The death seems to be a result of the whole process and not only the puncturing.

it doesn't have a negative meaning. it's when a medical line is inserted in the vein. u can also translate it this way عند وضع حقنة دم وتمريرها في الوريد depending on whether u want to insert a blood line or saline.
