Spanish term

han trabado libremente un verdadero debate contradictorio

Spanish to English Law/Patents Law (general) Arbitration
The term "verdadero debate contradictorio" seems to come up a lot in this context. i.e. the congruency/consistency or otherwise of the arbitral award with the claims or requests of the parties to the arbitration.

context: same request for rectification, correction and supplementation of arbitral award.

"sobre la base de ambas premisas, el Laudo Final contiene un detallado análisis de las principales cuestiones debatidas por las partes, respetando así completamente la tutela arbitral efectiva de las Partes; no concurre desajuste alguno entre su fallo y los términos en que las Partes han formulado sus respectivas pretensiones durante el procedimiento arbitral, en el cual -además- *han trabado libremente un verdadero debate contradictorio.*

I just can't find the way to word this phrase in English (I did look at the reference on "debate contradictorio" in proz, but am not sure this works here) so any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Thank you!!

This is a literal translation, I understand that both parties said what they needed to say and were heard

they have openly had a discussion of the contrary viewpoints

I believe it means something like that. Look at "debate contradictorio" in the Proz answer that was the most popular answer, and not the answer chosen with "pros and cons"

Thank you Michael, yes I saw those entries, but couldnt find a way to express it. Thanks for your suggestion, though I think I will go with AllegroTrans' wording in this case.
