French term

L’envers vaut l’endroit

French to English Other Textiles / Clothing / Fashion Luxury clothing
I am translating a text about the construction of the iconic Chanel tweed jacket.

This is a Chanel quote:

« L’envers vaut l’endroit » avait elle l’habitude d’affirmer.

It's related to her iconic jacket. I think she's referring to how the inside/wrong side of her jacket is just as good as the outside/right side. Not sure of a catchy way to put this in English though.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Chanel's silk linings were cut as one with fabric and quilted to it so really were beautiful.

inside and outside are equally beautiful

.......
Example sentence:

Gabrielle Chanel used to say that elegance meant being equally beautiful on the inside and the outside. The same could be said of clothing.
