: Fire rating and fire stopping are not the same. As I noted to Nancie, the EDF reference is a mistranslation as will become obvious if you read their text carefully.

Discussion
I had in fact misread the text. I read ''will be ensured'' instead of ''will ensure''.
Once again thank you!
"...assurera un coupe-feu de traversée équivalent au degré coupe-feu des planchers traversés"
this means that x must provide a degree of 'coupe-feu' for the 'traversée' equivalent to... etc.
So this is not talking about providing a physical device (as you seem to be reading it); but rather, the stated physical devices must provide a certain protection quality.
Hence why even the properly-written of your references are actually referring to the physical device, and hence are not directly applicable here.

However, I was in fact referring to the ref. Nancie quoted in her response to your peer comment; this is from the US, but like I said, is actually referring in a different way to something else.
"Coupe-feu de traversées Obturation pleine masse
(Penetration Fire Barriers - Full Mass Stop)"
Which should be: Total/full-volume fire stopping of penetrations.
If you read on, the meaning is quite clear:
"La présente specification s'applique aux procédés utilises pour l'obturation des traversées de cables électriques ou de certains conduits au travers des différentes parois coupe-feu des batiments ... Elle a pour objet de donner les principales regles constructives qu'il y a lieu de respecter dans la realisation des obturations coupe-feu.
(This specification applies to processes used for stopping penetrations of electrical cables or certain conduits through fire resistant barriers of buildings ... It is intended to give the main construction rules which have to be complied with when making fire stops)."
