Term comes from an Iberian Spanish technical specification for a project. This section describes a false ceiling in a technical room:

Los techos registrables construidos con placas metálicas descolgadas de 600x600mm se instalan sobre perfilería semi-oculta regular con entre calle de 15 o 24mm.

What throws me here is "con entre calle". I think/believe/imagine it refers to the spacing between something (the grid perhaps?).
