disagree wrtransco : Klettverschluss would be perfectly fine. This is like saying, you cannot translate "Tempo", "Tixo" or "Kleenex", because they are proper names.

Klettverschluß

Velcro is a brand name like Aspirin from Bayer and designates a hook- and loop closer or fastener. The name Velcro is well-known in USA, but unknown in Germany. Nearly 99 % will use the expression "Klettverschluß" instead of. This is supported also by the famous "Ernst". It does not offer the translation "Velcro"
