English term

commission project

English Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general)
A client of mine manufactures and sells beautifully painted toy soldiers. Recently she received an email from a potential buyer who wrote the following:

========================================
I was looking on your website's gallery. I was happy and amazed the way the Samurai figures either they are on foot or on horseback. I was thinking of getting a couple of sets from this collection.

Couple of question I do have for you before I can go on a ******commission project****** sometime down the road.

1. What are the scale size of these of collection, are they 54 mm - 60 mm?
2. Are the collection come unpainted?
3. How much do you charge for a ******commission project****** / to get it painted?
4. What are the painting levels available?
========================================

What do you think this person means by ******commission project******?

Thanks for your help!

English term (edited): I can go on a commission project

I can commission work

This was obviouslly written by a non-native (many errors)

we'd usually use a verb here "commision work" or "give an artist a commision for work" = give an order (PO) to do work for client

Basically, in a commision, an artist is asked to create work for the end customer following exact specifications re size/type/medium/support etc etc.. So, the artist is not free to create as they like for themselves.
Sometimes the commisioned work will be specific to the customer's requirements and thus unique but sometimes it is a duplicate of something the artist has produced before but perhaps in a different size/colour or medium.

NB
"end-customer" above should read "commissioner" as it is the person making the commision who deals with the artist/creator of work, sometimes on behalf of a company or other end-client.

"letter" rephrased in
I was browsing your gallery's website and was amazed and delighted with the Samurai figures, whether on foot or on horseback, and I was thinking of getting a couple of sets from this collection.

I have a few questions for you before I can actually commission something from you some time later (/some time down the road)...

Note from asker:
Thanks for going out of your way to improve that email. Just in case you think I'm the one who wrote it and need it proofread... That is not the case. I only needed an explanation of the term I asked about (commission project).

a commissioned project

Requested, often (but not always) on someone else's behalf

They might want her to produce something a client would want to purchase, based on her previous work. many painters are "commissioned" to paint portraits

Easily put, they would like for her to produce something to be purchased

to let you do his job

"commission" related to "charge the task" or in this context, the item/service that you offer.

My guess, hopefully it helps.
