I need help with the translation of the word "crutch" in the following context:
This is part of a installation instruction of heat shrink terminations.
1. Remove oversheath, armour and inner sheath.
Remove oversheath to the dimension A= 1100mm.
If the cable is armoured, remove the armour and inner sheath to dimensions as shown in Fig.1.
Remove any bedding. Spread 3 phases and position the triangle insert deeply into the crutch.

No sé exactamente cómo expresar este término, pero pienso que se refiere a la bifurcación que aparece a la hora de remover el forro exterior de un cable con varios alambres para descubrir y abrir en abanico los alambres forrados al interior.
"Crutch" es una variante ortográfica de "crotch", o sea "entrepierna" y se puede referir también a la parte de un vestimiento que cubre la entrepierna, p.ej. en los pantalones.

this translation is a bit tricky and is not a really technical one, I have to say.
Starting from what crutch means, which it can be "base" or "entrepierna" like crotch.
In the actual context, which is a cable heater shrink connector, and it is talking when you have to insert the cables into the connector and push up to end, the bottom of the connector.
That is the best translation I could get.
