Emmanuelle, my guess is that this may be referring to a pancake hydraulic cylinder which is used to push the moving platen firmly up against the fixed platen. Unfortunately, the only reference I can find that might offer a translation is this one on Termium Plus, but I'm not sure if this is correct.
