Catalan term
terminal fix via satèl•lit de telefonia
Catalan to English
Tech/Engineering
Telecom(munications)
This is part of a spec for a telecommunications system, to be installed in an "advanced command vehicle":
"Subministrament, instal•lació i configuració d’1 terminal fix via satèl•lit de telefonia i serveis avançats"
Apart from not really understanding the syntax of the sentence, I don't understand how a landline (fix) telephone can be satellite based - since they are two different options - either landline or not... surely?
Thanks very much!

fixed phone unit with satellite feed
The system consists of a phone unit which is 'fixed', i.e. not mobile, fed by a telecommunications satellite. The same sort of thing also exists with a radio feed (I've got one). I agree land line sounds contradictory so perhaps 'fixed' would do. HTH

Comment: "Hi Tony - thanks very much. The customer more or less confirmed this too, saying that the phone remained in the mobile unit but, as you say, linked to a satellite feed."
