Wanneer u klaar bent met koken, zijn nog lang niet alle geurtjes, vetdeeltjes en vochtdeeltjes uit de lucht gefilterd. Dit zou betekenen dat u de afzuigkap nog enige tijd zou moeten laten aanstaan. Door de naloop-stand in te schakelen, doet de afzuigkap nog enige tijd zijn werk, waarna vanzelf de motor en verlichting worden uitgeschakeld.
