Thanks Freekfluweel Misschien was ik te vlug geweest met op 'answer' te klikken maar ik heb zeker niets "gekopieerd". Als je op 'answer' klikt ziet je niet eens de discussie dus ik heb gewoon geantwoord wat ik dacht dat het antwoord was. Zo simpel is het. Het is niet zo raar in dit context dat ik op dezelfde antwoord ben gekomen als iemand anders.
Mijn P.S. commentaar ging over het bericht van Barend 'Ik vind dit niet leuk, Dubois', (niet echt een voorbeeld van etiquette nu dat wij het over etiquette hebben) niet over hoe jij mij adresseerde.

Het gaat niet alleen om typfouten maar vaak wordt er in de discussieruimte al een hint gegeven naar het antwoord. Dikwijls ook omdat er (nog) te weinig context is. In het algemeen wordt er geen antwoord "gekopieerd" uit de discussieruimte (alhoewel dat wel gedaan wordt...). Mijn eerste bijdrage hier was ook min of meer een verkapte goedkeuring op de bijdrage van BvZ! Ik had immers ook dat antwoord kunnen geven... Vaker gebeurt het dat anderen aanmoedigen om iets uit de discussieruimte als antwoord op te geven (zo kan het dus ook!).

(Overigens heb ik je met je volledige initialen geadresseerd)

@freekfluweel I don't think that your comment on my needing to brush up on my Dutch is justified. Perhaps if etiquette/noblesse rules are so important to you, or you're to be seen as an example of these qualities, you wouldn't have made such a comment in the first place. I personally think that all this is beside the point and that if someone asks a question and someone else can answer it, they should. Any etiquette rules you make up which aren't included in the Kudoz rules probably won't apply to anyone else who hasn't made up the same rules and/or can't read your mind through cyberspace. P.S. In English, calling someone by their last name is not in itself exemplary etiquette.

Hi Barend, I didn't notice your comment on the discussion entries before offering my answer. You may not have noticed this but when you click on 'answer', generally the discussion is hidden. If you'd answered I would surely have seen your answer before offering mine and certainly wouldn't have offered an answer similar to one already proposed. In fact, if you'd offered the translation relating to your comment, I would certainly have agreed! I translate from Dutch to English and I have worked on endless reams of SOPs for pharmaceutical companies so I recognized the term when I read the question immediately and felt that I could help the asker so I answered. Equally, I had never heard of the etiquette 'rule' of not answering if there was a typo and I don't think anyone else has either as I often answer questions that involve a typo and so do many others. In fact, more often than not, a question arises on Proz precisely because of a typo so I'm not sure how many answers there would be if this were a rule.
I think that it's a case of 'great minds think alike' rather than a case of 'brainchild kidnapping' and I'm sorry if you felt that I had done the latter.

I will tell you what I would do in such a case.
I would say:

Barend, ik zou er zelf niet opgekomen zijn dat dit zou kunnen verwijzen naar PE-bakken, maar nu je het zegt, ik denk dat je gelijk hebt, ik zou het als antwoord geven.

En als jij het niet doet, dan doe ik het. :-)

This is one thing, another thing is whether, once we know it refers to PE-bakken, it is interesting to come up with a translation for the word 'PE-bakken'.

The problem here was to find out what 'pebbakken' referred to, possibly I deciphered the code (Laurent could have come up with further details). It is my brainchild.

Of course I know too this stuff is widely used, also in the pharmaceutical industry. One of the reasons I suggested it might refer to PE-bakken.

@M-HD: noblesse oblige According to Kudoz-rules you are completely justified to enter an answer. However, when it's been made clear that we're dealing with a typo, (Kudoz) etiquette says an answer given, based on these discussion entries, should not likely to be praised...or given at all...

Brush up your Dutch; BvZ already made a pun with a "b-tje" (a bit/an [additional] "b")
