English to Chinese Tech/Engineering Business/Commerce (general) outsource
Q Is outsourcing a real trend or a fad?
A CH: It definitely is a real trend. We’ve all seen the growth of outsourcing in the functional areas of a bank, for example, in human resources, IT, finance processing and so on. The growth going forward is in the area of operational outsourcing and more of the “core” activities of a financial institution as opposed to these traditional service or functional areas.
A CK: Supporting the fact that this is an integral part of the way banks do business is that some banks find themselves sub-scale in terms of processing volumes. To stay competitive they have to invest in infrastructure that does not support an economic business case.

FYI

To stay competitive they have to invest in infrastructure that does not support an economic business case.

说话的人似乎随口讲出来,也顾不得精雕细琢。不过可以理解他的意思:
要保持竞争力,这些公司对原本支持不好的基础设施投入资金建设,改善竞争情况。
