Nažalost, ovo je jedini kontekst koji imam. Što se to zapravo radi s ječmom? Postoji li neki poseban izraz ili ću to morati prevesti kad "raditi s ječmom"?

... Apart from the men's dialect, there are other things in the text which indicate that the events are located on a farm. The swamper asks George if they are going to "buck barley", which means to harvest barley. They sit on boxes instead of chairs and George shuffles cards. Playing cards was then and propably is still today one of working men's favorite pass times...

Taj pojam se javlja i u knjizi "Of Mice and Men" John Steinbecka i na više mjesta je objašnjen, a ovo je jedan primjer:
