This is certainly the right sort of sense, but since the term 'cable loop' is a bit odd used by itself like this as a measurement, I suspect that there may be an extended form of the term that might affect the translation....

Thanks, Dikran! That's what I tried too, couldn't even find a good definition of it, but I'm pretty sure the FR term is a calque of the EN anyway // No, I could only do a quick search, but nothing clear-cut (hence low conf.)

Rien trouvé de vraiment convaincant.
Il devrait probablement s'agir d'une sorte de
"constante forfaitaire (de longueur)"
qui aurait une valeur spécifique pour une fibre déterminée employée pour constituer un câble optique donné.
