And here is the context! This refers to areas where glue containing formaldehyde is used. The full sentence is: "Formaldehyde is also produced to be used for various product areas such as cosmetic, disinfection, building and furniture materials" (yes the source text is badly written...). I thought of "produits d'ameublement", which I found on their website.

@ Asker Yes, context is vital here.

In particular, in informal, everyday EN, 'material' is often used to mean 'fabric' — so this could also mean 'furnishing fabrics', which would of course require a quite different translation.

Are you given examples of any of these 'materials' — or if not, can you work out from what is being said about them just which types of materials may be involved?
