conseiller de permanence

From the limited context given, I think they are talking about a 'sales representative' — so perhaps more traditionally 'commercial(e)'; but it seems to be fashionable these days to avoid the dirty word 'sales', and so to call them 'customer adviser' etc. 'conseiller/ère' seems to be one of the equivalent euphemisms used in FR, and one that seems to me to fit well here.

As for 'duty', I'm assuming they mean a non-specific representative who takes it in turns to staff the sales office.

Of course, if your context doesn't seem to require the euphemism, I'd be inclined to go for the more straightforward 'vendeur/euse'.

neutral mchd : rien dans le contexte n'explique qu'il s'agit d'un travail posté.

'Staff the Sales Centre'? As I said, we are lacking context to be sure of anything...
agree Daryo : "représentant de permanence" // from time to time, this person will have to sit in the call center some ungodly hours, just in case some insomniac calls ...

Merci, Daryo ! That's the way I see it, on the basis of the limited context provided.

disagree Tony M : That was what I originally posted, but then I had second thoughts; surely this implies rather 'duty' in the sense of 'on call-out / standby'?

disagree Daryo : d'astreinte = Fait de rester disponible dans le cadre d’une mission professionnelle https://fr.wiktionary.org/wiki/astreinte // to staff = être sur place

agree writeaway : no one is sure of the context, but sure this answer must be wrong. love it.
