These mortgages are for people who have had bankruptcies, defaults, CCJs, arrears and other credit problems. Because these problems are highly detrimental to credit reports, these non status mortgages are secured with specific requirements such as at least 20% down of the cost of the home. There are lenders who will still lend on the contingency of 5% to 10% down and then there are a few who will even do non credit loans at 100%. There may be instances where one will need to offer more than 20% down.
