Nesse caso significa que pega voce de surpresa..eh aquela sensacao de que voce nao estah esperando a coisa acontecer e BUM...e voce ateh diz...nossa/wow, nao esperava por essa...eh este o sentido da expressao.

It's about an idiom, and it seems that the meaning includes the fact that the trainer does not have enough information to give the asker/student. In Brazil we "Essa pergunta me pegou desprevenido."
