English term

add-on acquisition

English Bus/Financial Law: Contract(s) Mergers & Acquisitions
Could someone explain and/or find a definition? I am having no luck whatsoever and I don't quite understand exactly what it means (i.e. what the structure/form of the acquisition is).

Thanks!

Add-on means put a functionality to the available and working thing or structure or company to make it rich and more feature, so a new feature or attribute will be added on to old structure.

acquisition aimed at expanding the company's market share within its industry

...as opposed to branching out into a new sector.
