framed teak

English Art/Literary Poetry & Literature
The fisherman's pointing finger: unforgettable focal point of the picture which hung on a sky-blue wall in Buckingham Villa, directly above the sky-blue crib in which, as Baby Saleem, midnight's child, I spent my earliest days. The young Raleigh-and who else? -- sat, framed in teak, at the feet of an old, gnarled, net-mending sailor -- did he have a walrus moustache? -- whose right arm, fully extended, stretched out towards a watery horizon, while his liquid tales rippled around the fascinated ears of Raleigh -- and who else? Because there was certainly another boy in the picture, sitting cross-legged in frilly collar and button-down tunic ... (excerpt from Salman Rushdie's Midnight's children)

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Discussion

Daniel Grigoras (asker) Nov 2, 2012:
just noticed In the variant I received, the syntagm is "in framed teak", while the one on the interned that I copied is "framed in teak"; apologies; I thought though that it might have to do with the frame;
I guess the problem has really more to do with a typo in the text that I received.

agree Noni Gilbert Riley : Yes. Perhaps we could add that teak is a popular wood for framing, and for furniture, with its pleasant mid brown colour.
