French term

conjuguer

French to English Art/Literary Cinema, Film, TV, Drama
This is from a description of a series of films to be shown at a documentary film festival (final sentence):

Il y a la des cinéastes dont on ne connait pas grand chose et qu'il faudrait découvrir car ils **conjuguent*** mieux que tant d'autres la réalité Américaine (Jon Alpert, Michael Barnes, Kent MacKenzie ou Leonard Kastle).

bring together

Apart from the grammatical sense, that is the literal meaning of "conjuguer" (cf conjugal rights, conjuger nos efforts).

Here, they bring the reality of the American west together, they make its reality real, they "get it together".

Speaking metaphorically, you could having them "harnessing" the West, or "reining it in", or "tying it up" (like one o' thim calfs that's bin lassooed an' tie-down-roped). Moving anywhere but westward (ho!), we could have "pin the West down".

Sans perdre le nord, "encapsulate".
Peer comment(s):

agree ormiston : perhaps another verb but I think the notion that TOGETHER they (depict...the American way of life etc.). I was thinking along the lines of 'conjugez vos talents'...i.e. a composite picture of the US. The verb begs TWO things, or at least 'LES réalités. .

Hmm... I don't see THEM together, but rather all the aspects that make up "the West".

contextualise/put into context

I think that this is not just about conveying something fixed, but about putting it into context. I don't like the word "contextualise", but far be it from me to impose personal taste on this.
