On context... Well, perhaps there might be more than you think...

For example, you say there'es "an amount indicated against this entry" — is this an actual 'amount' (i.e. a sum of money), or is it perhaps just a number (of days?) Is it a whole number, or perhaps has a ½ in it? (most companies don't count anything smaller than a ½-day's leave )

If it is an amount of money, then how does it relate to other sums on the pay slip? Does it represent x/30ths of the monthly wage for example (i.e. suggesting a daily rate)?

My hunch is that it means '(authorized) absence taken from leave entitlement' — but in the absence of proper context, this can be no more than a guess, and as the others have said, the only real solution is to ask the customer — or the wages section in organization issuing the pay slip, perhaps!

No further context available. :-( Hazel: There's an amount indicated against this entry. So I wonder if it could be legitimate absence!! May be it would be a good idea to ask the client to provide more info.
Thanks all of you! I'll keep you'll posted if I hear from the client.

that's my point Hazel we can only guess. imo Asker has to ask client or provide more context, if there is any
Hazel Le Goff Jul 4, 2010:
Could it be the amount of days of legitimate absence taken by the employee.
Absences Droits pris en jours??????
Just a guess though.

no hints given by the rest of the (con)text? Since the whole line seems to be a mystery (IND. DROITS PRIS JRS) perhaps it's best to ask the client
