Talking about heavy minerals:

Du fait de leur densité, la plupart se concentrent naturellement dans les roches sédimentaires, notamment dans les sables de rivières et de plages où ils peuvent former des accumulations exploitables (placers).

I can only find references to placer as a verb but it seems to me that it is a noun here...
