French term
TVA payée en amont
French to English
Bus/Financial
Law: Taxation & Customs
EU VAT deductions
My urge is to translate as: "input VAT"
A specialised French monolingual dictionary gave: “taux de TVA supporté à l'achat ».
The EU general information website seems to confirm this option on the following link: http://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/taxation/vat/traders/va...
I was able to check the meaning of this option: “VAT that is paid by a business to other businesses on the supplies that it receives is known as input VAT (that is, VAT on its input supplies). A business is generally able to recover input VAT to the extent that the input VAT is attributable to (that is, used to make) its taxable outputs. Input VAT is recovered by setting it against the output VAT for which the business is required to account to the government, or, if there is an excess, by claiming a repayment from the government.”
However, Euro Dicotum suggests: "VAT paid on inflows".
Is there a difference in meaning? Could I be missing out on something by translating as "Input VAT"?
Thanks for your help.

according to EURODICAUTOM, as you have already mentioned...
Note from asker:
Is it just another way of saying the same thing as "input VAT" or is there a technical difference? |
