French term

consommation (in special customs context)

French to English Law/Patents Law: Taxation & Customs customs
I'm not sure how to translate this term in the following context from a customs code (African):
Les droits et taxes dont sont passibles les échantillons prélevés sont perçus d'après les éléments d'assiette reconnus ou admis sur la déclaration en détail définitive déposée pour la consommation.
Proposed translations (English)

Imposition (of taxes)

I think that this word is not well chosen, by the author.
I think that the author of the text wanted to tell that
"la declaration est deposee aux Impots, pour l'imposition".

Maybe the phrase concerns only the consumption tax? This can explain this word choice. I don't know. In all cases, I think that the author wanted to tell "imposition".

I met such kind of mistakes in African texts.
