French term

sur le biseau

French to English Social Sciences Management family business succession
Below a paragraph talking about the decreasing role of the predecessor's advisor and the growing role of the successor's adviser.

inserer la figure 2 sur le biseau

from what I can gather of the translation of the word "biseau" in the Larousse (bord taillé obliquement, et non à angle droit), this is a figurative use of the word

I have found a translation that seems to correspond, namely "on the wane", but the context doesn't fit so I am hesitant to use it.

SafeTex, Philgoddard and rkillings, I am particularly interested to see if you will comment as I found your contributions very useful yesterday. thanks again.
Proposed translations (English)
1 on the wedge

Thanks Wendy Hi Wendy, thanks for your help on this. You did point me in a helpful direction, but I think in my particular situation, on the wedge does not work. Michelle
michellekb (asker) Feb 14, 2013:
as specified in the field selection, this is for a management text. It is the title of a table in a research paper and somewhat lacking in context. The preceding paragraph talks about the increasing and decreasing influence of (management) advisors

What comes before and after this phrase?

on the wedge

Could this be referring to falling and rising wedges on a graph diagram?

It doesn't have to be rising or falling - these were just examples.

Note from asker:
Thanks Wendy. The google links show what I think must be the idea (from what the client explained), but I must admit I have not heard of anyone speaking of on the wedge...
However, here it is "sur le biseau", so neither rising or falling.
Thanks
