French term

carré laminé

French to English Tech/Engineering Materials (Plastics, Ceramics, etc.)
From advertising text on a company in the industry of cabinetmaking and manufacture of wood mouldings and components:
"Les activités du département des moulures et composantes de bois franc sont concentrées dans la fabrication en série de moulures haut de gamme, de composantes d’escaliers, de ***carrés laminés*** et de composantes spécifiques à l’industrie du meuble et des centres de rénovation, prêtes pour l’assemblage."
I have no idea. Thanks for any help.

rolled square [steel] bar

Well, that's one of the possibilities --- and after all, the sort of thing that might well be used in making (metal) staircase components.

HOWEVER, I have a vague recollection that this term has come up before, in connection with raised false floors, and I think on that occasion friend Bourth came up with another, perhaps more approrpiate answer. I've had a quick serach in the Glossaries and not been able to find it; but I do urge you to look for this comment by Bourth, as I feel sure it might well be releveant to your context.

neutral Bourth (X) : I'm flattered that you attribute The Knowledge on this one to me, but I have no recollection. Which is worse, I wonder, senility or Alzheimer's, or are they one and the same?

square laminate board??

is all I can think of. Whyever not oblong, I wonder!

Considerable doubt over what is meant though. The French often say "laminé" (said of steel) when they actually mean "lamifié" which is said of the plasticized paper coatings on board (melamine, Formica).

If they are not good on language, they might even mean "lamellé", which means we start getting into glulam (glued laminated), though this is more likely to be used for massive structural components rather than for furniture, I should have thought.

laminate tile

Since the text refers to mouldings and hardwood components, I would think that it could be some sort of tile.
