Paroles et musique : Henri Dès

REFRAIN:
C'est à l'école
Tagadagada
Qu'on apprend des bêtises (bis)

Le grand Dédé
Poils poils au nez
Devant toute la classe
Monte au tableau
Poils poils au dos
Pour faire des grimaces

Zoum Zoum...etc.

REFRAIN

Quand le Julien
Poils poils au mains
Raconte ses histoires
Elles sont si bêtes
Poils aux chaussettes
Qu'on pleure dans nos mouchoirs

Zoum Zoum...etc.

REFRAIN

Et la maîtresse
Poils poils au tresses
Qui pousse des soupirs
Quand Marion
Poils au menton Attrape le fou-rire

Zoum Zoum...etc.

REFRAIN

Et puis y'a moi
Poils poils au doigts
Qui marche à quatre pattes
Pour chatouiller
Poils aux mollets
Ma voisine de droite

Zoum Zoum...etc.

REFRAIN

Y'a la Thérèse...

and it continues for a few more verses

My six-year old son has been told to "faire le dessin de la chanson" for his homework this weekend (among other things), which I must say seems rather a tall order since most of the kids in his class can't read yet. So basically it's up to me to explain it, which he insists I do in English...

.. here's the link http://www.paroles.net/chansons/10894.htm .... Not that it helps too much with your son's drawing...
katsy Nov 17, 2007:
I'd agree with mediametrix's answer, but see this site - the words of a song by Boby Lapointe - don't know this song by Henri Des (a staple of primary school music!!), but the words might be an echo of BL's song and maybe the tune is too...

schm-

Selon une pratique aux Etats-Unis, on ferait rimer un sujet de dérision ou au contraire un sujet qu'on aime bien avec le même son qui commence systématiquement par schm-.

Ici :

Dédé Schmédé

Balckboard schmackboard

Julian Schmulian

Silly schmilly

etc .....

neutral Jim Tucker (X) : This comes from Yiddish - it's more a form of dismissal, of emphasizing that something is not important, than outright derision. It's usually followed by a comma and then what spkr thinks is important. //Explanation there is not complete- examples ok.

neutral Julie Barber : That's interesting Jim, I didn't know! wonder how I ended up with it here..\ what is the expression French expression "poil au.." about in French then? I'm probably missing something here...

sorry guys I understood from wordreference that it was a possible near-equivalent to the French expression "poil au.." and that "hairy", "old hairy" or however you'd translate the French more or less litterately did not ring the same bell in English...
