German term

der Paternosterofen

German to English Tech/Engineering Engineering: Industrial thermal processing
This is an industrial furnace probably in vertical or tower design. I am searching for the commonly used and understandable English term. On the Web I've found e.g. paternoster furnace, but I'm not sure that this is the correct translation into English.
Proposed translations (English)
4 +2 vertical oven

Elif Baykara Narbay Nov 8, 2017:
vertical conveyor oven To my knowledge, the two characteristics of a Paternosterofen is that it is vertical and it has conveyors allowing the heat exposure of the material being processed be more even. Unfortunately, I cannot provide more information at the very moment but it may be a good idea to search for "vertical conveyor oven" as well.

I don't think it's a furnance, which would be for heating. These ovens are for thermal processing. "The main purpose of a vertical oven arrangement is to provide thermal processing while occupying a minimal amount of manufacturing floor space." http://www.davrontech.com/industrial-ovens/oven-types/vertic...

agree philgoddard : I think the "conveyor" idea is important. I can see why they're called paternoster ovens, but I'm not sure that would mean much to most English speakers.
