more in the glossary Actually, there are already glossary entries with upstream or front-end as the translation, including one entry posted by RL (who usually knows what he's talking about).

Agree I work with these and either feeder, upstream (or less so front end) is good. Front end implies it is the client system which this context doesn't tell us.

FYI There's an existing Kudoz entry for this at http://www.proz.com/kudoz/german_to_english/computers_genera... (which may explain the translation in your text), and IMO the wrong answer was selected there.

From a bit of googling, 'Vorsystem' in a DP context usually means front-end or upstream system (front-end' was also suggested (but without the hyphen) for the above-mentioned question.

clarification It is a bullet point. The previous text, under the heading "Summary of the migration from VENUS - MERKUR", reads:
The following migration activities are described in the chapters for EOY 2008/2009 and for Big Bang :

• Setting up of the PARSY tables for MERKUR

Does your context (this sounds like a heading, but it could also be a bullet point) provide any information about the meaning of 'Vorsystemen'? IMO 'legacy' is unlikely here.
