Can anyone think of a nice, dignified term for "Seniorenkultur", i.e. the culture of old people. I don't like "senior culture" - although I admit that that might be just me. Here's the context, from an article about a market researcher:
"Seine Schwerpunkte liegen in der Betrachtung der Seniorenkultur und der Psychologie des Konsums von Lebensmitteln."
Many thanks

third-age sector
I guessed this, and actually found some refs to back it up. I think the term "third age" is growing in popularity.

It does seem more common in UK and the Antipodes, but here is at least one US example: http://www.pitt.edu/~cgs/third_age.htm and also http://www.utexas.edu/cee/thirdage/

Saga generation
I read this recently in the broadsheet press refering to a 63-year-old who walked to the South Pole and dedicated his efforts to the 'Saga generation'. I must be honest and say I've never heard the term before, but I thought it really was a lovely way of expressing 'older generation'.

Another thought, in case you feel uncomfortable with the other answer.
I think generally, "Senioren" are viewed as those over 60, so it should be a safe answer.

Are you sure, Ellen? I wonder if there's a UK/US divergence as to what's PC or not going on here? Of course there are some other interesting terms in this whole area: "grey power", "silvertops", etc :-)

: This could work or maybe Ellen's "the cultural life of hoary head"?

I know this is coming in late, Ian, but I just heard this on American TV and ran to the computer to submit it. Maybe it can help your decision.
