German term

IAF-MAF- und FF-Technik

German to English Medical Medical: Instruments Laser-Related Abbreviations

From a text about the use of lasers in dentistry. I haven't got the faintest idea what "IAF-MAF- und FF-Technik" means. Has anyone here heard of these abbreviations? TIA for any light you can shed on them.

Thanks Ariane That looks very promising, actually. Certainly fits my context (work with root canals). In that case, looks like I can keep the same abbreviations in English.

I think this technique might have something to do with the order the files are applied: initial - master - fine. But I was unable to find any confirmation of this theory.
Something went wrong...
4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "It just so happens that right near the end of my text, there were a couple of sentences that confirmed your guess as correct. But the references were quite impressive and convincing anyway. So well done Ariane, and thanks - 4 points well deserved!"
