German term
Proben sicherstellen
German to English
Tech/Engineering
Science (general)
Context:
Bitte Proben sicherstellen und Service verständigen, Reagenz wird nicht gewechselt.
This is in the FAQS/trouble shooting guide for a centrifuge or some such piece of lab equipment as an instruction for what to do if there is a blockage in the rotation chamber. I'm not sure how sicherstellen is meant here. Does this mean "take samples" or "rescue (i.e. remove) the samples" from the centrifuge?

I simply don't like "rescue" for objects - I would prefer to use "retrieve" and keep "rescue" for operations involving people.

Of course! That was the word I was looking for - thanks! |

rescue samples
Given your context I would say your 'rescue samples' (as in save, salvage, secure) is the best bet.

secure samples
not as extreme as "rescue" but carries the same meaning
