As is intuitively obvious, "cartons" is indeed the correct translation here, and I think the only possible one, if the containers are made of paper. If the containers are made of plastic, then "containers" or "plastic containers" would be appropriate. If the containers are made of glass, then "bottles" would be the appropriate translation.
I think that this exhausts the words that can be used to describe a receptacle containing liquids for human consumption.

One other possibility occurs to me: boxes (if the containers are indeed small boxes of milk)
