Hebrew term

ספרנדה

Hebrew to English Medical Medical: Pharmaceuticals
Any idea what "ספרנדה" is? It is mentioned in the pharmacists ordinance. The only reference I found online is the following link: http://www.snunit.k12.il/www_teva/law/israel/h23.html

Thanks!

Sue is technically correct -- the word means separation.
In checking with my friendly local US pharmacists, it appears that separanda is not commonly used here. My brother-in-law is a pharmacist in London, but I can\'t contact him until tomorrow.
A pharmacist here kindly explained that there are 7 classes or categories of drugs.
Class 7 being over-the-counter, Class 6-- perscription and Class 1 is severely restricted e.g. heroine. Classes 2-5 are various levels and reasons of restriction.
In Israel (and in the Gaza Strip) one of these classes is referred to as separanda (apparently Latin) maybe a holdover from the Mandate.
The following source goes to the trouble to use the Latin spelling:
ציוד נדרש:

ארונות - כולל ארונות נפרדים - Separanda.

Separate?????

All I can tell you is that pharmacies in Israel have a cabinet or a drawer labelled Separanda. According to the link you gave, there are medications that are required to have a "tavit separanda," so presumably these are medications that have to be kept separate from other medications, for one reason or another.
Peer comment(s):

agree Iris Bat-Or : separanda - separate storage under lock and key for narcotics, poisons and others named by the law.
